"Dog Days of Summer"

Photo & Poem by Gigi Ann
Dog Days of Summer,
heat, dampish, sultry, fun in the sun

Dog Days LackaDaisical
Afternoons spent reading
Delinsky in the shade of
The old Dog Wood Tree
Drinking Daiquiri's
Dancing Cheek-to-Cheek
in the evenings cool
Dog Days breeze.
Dog Days Delightful
pinks, purples, yellows and blues
as the sun dips down
with a few orange hues.
Dog Days of Summer
with fireworks displays
doesn't get dandier
than Summer's Dog Days!
Gigi Ann
"Dog Days" are the hottest, most sultry days of summer. In the northern hemisphere, they usually fall between early July and early September. In the southern hemisphere they are usually between January and early March. The actual dates vary greatly from region to region, depending on latitude and climateDog Days can also define a time period or event that is very hot or stagnant, or marked by dull lack of progress. The name comes from the ancient belief that Sirius, also called the Dog Star, in close proximity to the sun was responsible for the hot weather.
